Dr. Winstrom also prides herself on being easily accessible. "Patients should be able to access their physician when they are sick, not when they are on the road to recovery", she says.
Dr. Winstrom also prides herself on reasonable prices. There are no hidden fees at The Good Old Fashioned Doc Clinic and thus no insurance or Medicare is accepted. "We save money by not dealing with insurance companies, and we pass those savings on to you. You should have control over the cost of your medical care", says Dr. Winstrom.
The fee guide provides a list of all costs, so the patient is informed and in control of the cost of their medical care. For more information on our disassociation with insurance and Medicare, please click here, or to view Dr. Winstrom's professional opinion articles click here.
Doc's Philosophy of Medicine
Osler once said, “If you listen carefully enough, the patient will tell you his diagnosis.”
Careful listening not only leads to better, more cost-effective diagnoses, but is the foundation for the vital doctor-patient partnership. This attitude of shared responsibility is essential for optimal health care.
A patient is a whole being with equally important physical, emotional, and spiritual needs—each requiring maintenance and support. He is also part of a larger patient—the family/community.
My staff and I diligently seek to walk the thin line between thoroughness and cost-effective practicality. While we hope to help patients understand that a sound diagnosis requires thorough examination and testing, we also believe that the patient should have enough information to make a decision that is right for his own situation and ultimate control over his medical costs.
We see ourselves as servants, counselors, and friends and derive great personal satisfaction from our work.
Our goal is to help our patients take full advantage of the advances modern medical science is making while establishing prevention as their first priority, as it is ours.
